ISSEY MIYAKE SLICE
This long, tailored jacket has a notched lapels and two front buttons. There are inner chest pockets on both sides.
Inspired by cross-sections of fruit, the patterns of SLICE are drawn using the hikizome (hand-drawn dyeing) technique. Artisans in Kyoto use brushes and air-brushing to draw the pattern onto damp fabric, allowing the dyes to flow. Each pattern is dyed in a different way to express the freshness and power of fruit. The plain areas are also hand-dyed, giving the colours a unique nuance that cannot be achieved through printing or machine-dyeing. Due the hand-finished nature of these products the each pattern is unique.
